We were at Think Conference 2018

The internet brought speed with it: these days you can find any piece of information in a single click. On top of that, technological innovation also speeds up interpersonal relationships and business. You have to keep constantly up to date to know what's new.
Within this context, digital communication moves at the same pace of innovation: every day an algorithm changes, something new appears and there's another topic to keep track of. Being connected means having access to everything happening anywhere in the world. This truth is increasingly urgent for companies: not being on the internet, with a responsive website, a Facebook page and, at the very least, appearing in the top positions when a customer searches for a product or service on Google, is a bad sign, and can damage a company's sales and reputation. That's why Jellycode works across a wide range of web consultancy services, to offer clients best practice in the various areas the internet has to offer.
For companies working in technology and communication, as Jellycode does, keeping up with developments in the field is more than necessary. Working in Web Consultancy demands a great deal of study, research and attention to the new things that come up every day.
That's why everyone at the agency is encouraged and supported to attend events, conferences and talks: although we're plugged into what's new, it's more than important to have events where we can exchange ideas with other professionals in the sector.
When it comes to Digital Marketing, the question that has always been on my mind is: which digital best practices are being implemented by the big companies in Portugal?
It was in search of that answer that I went to Think Conference 2018.

The audience at Think Conference on day one.
The second edition of the event took place in Leiria on 29 and 30 June, at the beautiful Teatro José Lúcio da Silva. The structure of the event and the speakers taking part were, without a doubt, the high point of the conference: over two days we listened to and learned from great professionals such as Pedro Arnault (Esporte Clube Benfica), João Moura (PSP), Judit Takács (El Corte Inglés), Mónica Serrano (Loreal Portugal), Paulo Gaspar (Grupo Lusialves) and Susana Coerver (Parfois).
The topics covered by the speakers ranged from crisis management, brand positioning and communication metrics to process optimisation and the use of humour by companies on social media.
Something well worth mentioning in this first article is that consumers are paying ever closer attention to how brands communicate, and they engage better with companies that are authentic, that convey trust, relevance and transparency. Let me use that statement to ask: is your brand in line with what your target audience wants to see? Do you know what your audience expects from your communication?
Every speaker had a firm grasp of the subject they were talking about, and that gave me great insights and ideas to apply to Jellycode's clients. I think that's the real value of gatherings like Think Conference: they give us ideas that only needed an external spark to blossom. Human connection is very powerful.

The Think Conference audience during the coffee break which, by the way, was extremely well organised!
Because these are new topics that change every year, within a market that is constantly growing and expanding (particularly in Portugal), it's important to stop and listen to what other people in the digital sector have to say. The choice of professionals who spoke at Think Conference was essential to making the event a success.
I'd like to use this article to publicly congratulate the people responsible for organising the event. Every talk ran to schedule, the venue was very comfortable and the staff were always willing and attentive. Camila Silva, our Business Developer who joined me on this adventure, and I felt right at home, such was the warmth and welcome from everyone involved. My sincere thanks to all of you!

A packed auditorium at Think Conference
Here's to more events like Think Conference across Portugal, so that everyone in the field can come together to think, rethink, evolve and exchange ideas.
There's plenty of ground to cover and, more than that, together we can put Portugal on the map for Digital innovation in a few years' time.
In the next article on this subject, we'll talk more about some of the most interesting talks at Think Conference. Follow our social media to find out more!
See you next time!

The beautiful city of Leiria. Thank you, Think Conference!
